Cleaning Mable Tile Floor

Important tips on how to clean your marble tile flooring

Marble tiles are considered to be one of the best flooring materials that can be used in many occasions. Marble tiles are very resilient and exquisite, which is probably the key reason why a lot of people find it very appealing to use them as flooring materials in their homes and offices. These tiles come in a variety of colors, with different patterns and uses, giving its consumers a wide range of possibilities for its use and application.

Marble is actually formed from pressurized and heated limestone which crystallizes afterwards within the earth's crust. This gives marble exceptional durability and strength, making it an ideal flooring material. However, marble tile flooring can sometimes become a bit high-maintenance at times depending on its finish, and more so if it was not installed properly, which is why constant attention is needed in order to keep the marble's aesthetic value and shine. Although certain types of marble tile flooring are more durable and are more ideal for higher-traffic areas in the house than the others, all marble tiles need to be cared for in order to keep its clean and colorful shine and finish, as well as reducing the amount of damage it sustains from scratches or smudges, which is why caring for marbles is very important in making your marble tile flooring last for a long period of time.

When cleaning marble tile flooring, it is important to keep in mind that marble tiles can stain easily since the composition of marble deteriorates whenever it is exposed to acidic foods. Since marble tiles are considered to be softer than granite, and are very porous, it is easily etched by acids, making it very susceptible to damage vinegar, orange juice, and some other foods that are considered to be acidic. If you leave any of these acidic foods on the marble tile's surface, then the finish of the marble tile will be ruined, leaving you with a stained marble that is very unpleasant to look at.

Also, marble tile flooring is very delicate, which is why it is also prone to develop water spots or stains if spots of water or spills are left on the marble tile's surface for a prolonged period of time. It is best to immediately wipe off any spills on the marble tile as they happen, or if you cannot do it immediately, do not allow for the water stain or spot to remain there for very long as this can damage the marble tile's surface as well. Even water spots that are left from mopping the floor can also damage the flooring tile, so it is ideal to keep the marble tile as dry as possible.

When cleaning it, do not attempt to use any other form of cleaning material other than soap and water, or a pH neutral cleaning solution, in order to avoid staining the tile or possibly damaging it. Make sure that you use warm water only, as this can also help in the maintenance of the marble tile flooring. Once you have finished mopping the flooring tile using the cleaning solution, make sure that you wipe it dry using a clean cloth in order to remove water spots. Periodically sweep the floor and vacuum to remove any loose dirt on the surface, and have the tiles sealed and polished every few months in order to protect the floors from the dirt and grime while maintaining its shine.
