How to clean harsh stains on Granite Tiles?

If you wish to maintain the luster of your granite tiles, you may want to follow the following granite tile cleaning tips and techniques.

Granite is the hardest stone in the natural stone family. It’s harder than marble; hence it has low maintenance costs. Its spell bounding beauty and large scale applications make it the most sought after tiling material. The granite tiles are used to design kitchen slabs, counter tops, walls etc. Their lifelong customer service has made them the choice of millions.

The texture of granite tile is quite different from the marble tiles. You need to clean the spills as soon as possible; otherwise the stains would penetrate into the tile surface.

Therefore, homemakers must conduct regular cleaning regimes to maintain the beauty of this natural stone you can utilize the following tips for granite tile maintenance.

(1) You should clean the tiles with a mixture of dish washing detergent and warm water. You should use a soft sponge to avoid scratches on the tile surface. Ideally, you should apply sealants while installing the tiles to avoid deposition of dirt and stains.

(2) You can clean the stubborn stains with the help of a granite poultice. You can prepare a paste of dish soap, wheat flour and water to clean the stains. After preparing the paste, lay it on the stain and place a plastic on it. Keep the paste on the granite tiles for a fortnight and clean it later with water.

(3) You can clean the ink or wine stains with help of a poultice prepared from molding plaster and bleach. You can clean the oily stains by preparing a paste of molding plaster with water and leaving the mixture for few hours so that the stain becomes removable.

(4) The tea and coffee stains can be cleaned with help of hydrogen peroxide and ammonia. You can mix hydrogen peroxide with flour to clean greasy stains on granite tiles.
